Message replacements are fine.

The only problem you'll run into with replacing rubber with silicone anytime you do it is that the hose-clamps almost NEVER fit.

If you are going to do silicone try to have many clamps of different sizes laying around.
There are "screw-type" that *do not* shred silicone, but you have to buy them specifically.

I get flack from some guys about the cut/replace method, but as long as you are careful and have the replacements on-hand there's no better way to save time, and time is $.
